LANAI The Pineapple Isle
Lanai is an island a few miles off the coast of Maui, yet worlds away from the Hawaii most visitors experience. Lanai is 18 miles long and 12 miles wide with an elevation of not over 3400 feet. There is one major road that connects the industrial harbor, Manele Bay, Lanai City and the Lanai Airport.
In the 1920's, pineapple was introduced to the island by Jim Dole, as a replacement for ranching. In 1922 the Island was purchased by Dole and grew pineapple for its main industry until a few years ago.
No fuel available on the Lanai Island at any FBO. Please contact Maui base to arrange for fuel.
